Don’t Get Discouraged
I’m just looking at the calendar and realized how long its been since I applied for a couple really great online gigs. Sigh. If nothing else, my likely rejection has given me motivation for this post. Don’t get discouraged by a lack of response to your writing applications.
With online writing positions, some places will quickly respond to let you know that you are not what they are looking for or to ask for more information. But most places will only get in touch with you if they are interested in you for the job. So don’t expect a polite “no thanks”. It’s not likely that you’ll get anything back. Don’t give up too soon though. I have heard back from some places months after applying. You just never know.
So don’t sit moping because nobody writes you back. And certainly don’t take it personally. That’s just the way the work world is. It’s unfortunate, in my opinion. I mean, how long does it take to send a quick “not what we’re looking for” email. I would think it’s just simple politeness. Well, that’s just my opinion and not really the point here today.
