Using Blogger
Since I’ve been talking about blogs so much lately, why not keep up the theme? If you are thinking of creating your own blog for your writing efforts, using the Blogger network is a good place to start.
There are two great benefits from using Blogger. The main one is that the service is completely free, allowing you to launch your new venture with no financial investment at all. It really doesn’t cost all that much to create a site, but if you are unsure of your potential success, then why waste the money?
Another positive feature is that all the Blogger sites are connected through the network and can allow for greater promotion and visibility to your new site. There are still plenty of blogs to compete with, but being part of a network will always give better linking potential than going it alone.
One of the cons of using Blogger is that the URL you get with your free account will have the word “blogspot” in it (something like mynewsite.blogspot.com). Which is harmless in itself, but does let the world know that you are using a freebie site for your blog. Can come across as being unprofessional. You are also limited by the templates provided. That is only a partial limitation, as you do have access to the template codes in order to make all the changes you want. Google adsense can be used with the templates as well, to help you monetize your site.
I’ve started a few blogs using Blogger and have no complaints with their tools or features.
