Get up once in a while

Sitting at a desk all day is hardly a strenuous activity, when compared to putting a new roof on your house or hauling firewood. But even so, it can take some toll on your back muscles. As I’m sure any serious computer-worker knows, it can get painful sitting and working for hours on end.

The best way to ease the strain on your back, legs, arms and neck muscles is to take frequent short breaks to get up and do a bit of moving around. Stretching is quick and easy, and won’t get you overheated with exhaustion.

Web M.D has a great article on  stretching exercises at your desk. It may seem silly, but if you’re not used to working on a computer all day, this can make the difference between being able to relax comfortably in the evening, or being too stiff to move and maybe wish you were a roofer after all.
